Custom Glass Art & Jewellery in Alberta: How to Order

One of the things collectors love most about independent glass art is the ability to co-create something deeply personal. From custom-color fused glass earrings and lampworked glass flowers to bespoke pâte de verre leaves and vibrant suncatchers, almost all of my handmade portfolio can be customized to match your individual style, home palette, or upcoming special occasion.

Individually handcrafted in my studio in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, every custom order is developed with careful attention to your color vision, structural detail, and artistic intent—ensuring your final piece is entirely one-of-a-kind.

Tailored Glass Art for Milestones and Celebrations

Opting for a custom color palette transforms fine craft into a meaningful keepsake. Whether you are looking for bold, saturated statement tones, soft organic neutrals, garden-inspired variegation, or seasonal prairie palettes, I can adapt my signature designs to fit your vision.

Perfect Occasions for Custom Commissions:

  • Weddings & Bridesmaid Jewellery: Coordinated fused glass earrings customized to match the bridal party’s color story or wedding theme.
  • Anniversary & Birthday Gifts: Personalized wearable art or home decor featuring the recipient’s favorite colors or birthstone-inspired tones.
  • Memorial & Commemorative Pieces: Intimate sculptural items, like a specific glass flower or leaf, created to honor a memory or milestone.
  • Interior Design Styling: Tailoring the color gradients of a glass suncatcher or a pâte de verre display piece to accent your specific living room, office, or sunroom decor.

The Custom Glass Commission Process

Because kiln-forming, lampworking, and pâte de verre are precise, multi-stage thermodynamic processes, creating custom art requires a structured approach to ensure the glass is beautiful and structurally stable.

Here is what happens behind the scenes when you place an order:

1.Color Consultation and Design Selection: Stage 1.

We establish your design baseline (e.g., a specific earring style or botanical form) and select your custom glass colors based on available studio glass chemistry and compatibility.

2.Precision Hand-Cutting or Flame-Shaping: Stage 2.

Depending on the medium, compatible sheet glass is scored and hand-cut for fusing, or solid glass rods are carefully melted over a 3,000°F torch flame to shape custom floral petals.

3.The Kiln Firing Cycle: Stage 3.

The personalized piece enters the studio kiln. It undergoes an intensive, computer-controlled firing and annealing cycle over 12 to 24 hours to fuse the glass permanently and eliminate internal structural stress.

4.Hand-Finishing and Quality Assembly: Stage 4.

Once cooled, the piece is cold-worked, polished, and assembled with high-quality findings (such as hypoallergenic metal settings for jewelry) before undergoing a final quality check.

Timeline and Turnaround for Alberta Custom Orders

A common misconception is that commissioning handmade Canadian art requires waiting months for delivery. Because I maintain a fully equipped independent studio in Strathcona County, my typical turnaround time for custom color orders is only 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the structural complexity of the design and current studio volume.

Before any project begins, I provide a clear, guaranteed production timeline so you know exactly when your personalized artwork will be ready for pickup or secure shipment.

Why Choose Custom Canadian Art Over Mass-Market Decor?

When you invest in a custom piece from a local maker, you are choosing intentional craftsmanship over mass assembly lines.

  • Guaranteed Individuality: Glass is a beautifully dynamic medium. Even when utilizing the exact same color code recipe, natural variations in kiln placement, heat distribution, and chemical reactions ensure your piece has its own completely unique character.
  • Verified Material Quality: Every custom jewelry piece uses carefully tested, skin-safe components, and every home decor sculpture is properly annealed for long-term structural durability.
  • Supporting the Local Arts Economy: Every custom order directly keeps the tradition of Canadian fine craft alive right here in Alberta.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Glass Orders

How do I start a custom glass jewelry or decor order?

You can initiate a custom color request directly through the contact portal on my online shop, or visit me in person at seasonal artisan markets across the Edmonton region to look at raw glass color samples together.

Can you ship custom glass commissions across Canada?

Yes. All custom orders are safely wrapped in specialized protective packaging and shipped directly from my Sherwood Park studio to clients all across Canada, complete with tracking information.

Can you replicate a design from a photo of someone else's work?

To respect the intellectual property of the global craft community, I do not replicate designs by other artists. However, I am always happy to look at your inspiration photos, landscape snapshots, or fabric swatches to translate those specific color stories into my own signature botanical and geometric styles.
