If you have followed my studio journey over the past 8 years, you likely know me through Gaia's Glasswear. That name represented my roots in wearable torchwork and artisan glass jewelry. However, as my studio practice expanded into sculptural mediums and municipal commissions, my brand needed to evolve alongside my work.
How has Krystal Jones' glass art evolved over time?
My artistic development progressed through four distinct phases:
-
Wearable Jewelry: Intricate lampworked and torch-melted glass accessories.
-
Glass Botanical Flowers & Ornaments: Moving into three-dimensional kiln-fused floral shapes.
-
Pâte de Verre Sculptures: Developing complex, translucent shadowbox leaves and butterflies.
-
Public Commissions & Education: Delivering civic giftware (such as the 2026 Alberta Summer Games) and hosting youth workshops like the Leduc Summer Camp.
Why transition to a namesake artist brand?
A few years ago, after launching my glass flower series, I began co-branding my work as Handcrafted Glass by Krystal Jones. My recent work—from large-scale installations to gallery exhibitions—transcends the "wearable" label.
Transitioning fully to krystaljones.ca establishes a unified studio identity that supports gallery representation, architectural glass installations, and fine art collections while keeping wearable pieces under the same master umbrella.
