In the studio this year, a new collection is beginning to take shape—reclaimed glass earrings created from vintage glass objects. These pieces transform forgotten bowls, vases, and decorative glassware into wearable art, giving beautiful materials a second life.
For many years my work has focused on the natural beauty of glass and the quiet variations that occur when the material is shaped and fired in the kiln. Reclaimed glass introduces another layer of history to that process. Each object carries its own colour, pattern, and character, often produced decades ago by glassmakers whose work was originally intended for the home rather than the studio.
Through careful cutting, shaping, and kiln firing, these vintage glass pieces are being reimagined as earrings. The goal is to preserve the unique colour and texture of the original glass while creating a simple, wearable form. Because every source object is different, each pair of reclaimed glass earrings will be slightly unique.
Working with reclaimed materials also means the collection will continually evolve. Once a particular vintage glass piece has been used, that exact colour or pattern may never appear again. This makes each pair a small piece of history, transformed into something new.
