Inspired by one of Canada's most beloved winter birds, this cheerful cardinal is designed with a cute, cartoony personality that makes it feel right at home among the Christmas lights and greenery.

Each ornament begins as a piece of glass that is carefully decorated by hand. I use hand-painted outlines and powdered glass colour to build the bird's character and vibrant colour before the piece is fired in my kiln. The heat transforms the layers of glass into a permanent piece of fused glass art.

Because each one is individually made, no two ornaments are exactly alike. Tiny variations are part of what makes handmade glass so special.
